Guys, the end is near!
Toxic rain, suspicious aircraft, dripping poison liquid, gloomy factories... This is a toad pond gone bad!

There's something about that light, I just can't get over how cool it looks...
Anyways...you would get my vote - if I could vote:)

Nice, nice. But the planes seem bit out of place - it would work even without them.

It looks like an illustration done at some other time for something else and then the planes were just added for this.

Take a peak in the background. He also used the smoke stack stock photo, and bananas. ;)

It looks like the bananas and airplanes were added to an already good picture.

You may be right, you may be wrong, but no where does it say that you cannot use an older image you've designed in the past, nor is there any proof that he made it just for this contest, or if he made it years and years ago. It's a job well done none-the-less, and I wish him the best of luck! :)

The contest was about making one of the images given the most important.

Quote from rules: "One or several of the supplied images must be recognisable as a CENTRAL PART of your design". I think it's pretty clear. What's the use of a contest if we are all going to submit our previous work and ad somewhere a part required for the contest. I personally support this rule.

I too think this is a modified previous work that took little effort to change for the contest but I voted for it just to keep it ahead of the ballot stuffing that's going on for the banana/mountain piece.

I like this piece because it shows the creator can actually work from a given set of photos towards a personal piece.

And, I don't know how you spent your week, but I'd say the time to actually to create a painting like this is somewhere around a few hours to one day. The funniest part of these comments is of course the assumption that rather than actually working to win a competition the submitter had a readymade painting with a pond full of bullfrogs, you know, just in case.... :). Good luck jonnakonna!

I think above all other works, this is the most deserving. There's a great illustrative style to this that is lacking in all the other participants (even my own). Let's see how many people follow this in the next round.

Havin' seen jonnakonnas' work during last years competition, I totally bealive this image has been created solely for this competition and this round. She is actually this good, people...
Nowhere in the rules has "hand made" illustration been limited out of allowed styles. Photoshopping is more than...adding clipping paths or altering colours or doodling a bit with layers forexample. I suggest to those who weren't around during last years competition, to go and check the entries from all its rounds and see what I mean. There are a lot of great examples there of what you can and can't do with Photoshop (or other similar programs).
Where to find out more about last years competition:

Hey people! Thanks for your comments and support! Yes, I totally I made this picture from the scratch FOR this competition using the frog, banana, factory and airplane photos given. I just wanted the frog to look more like I made it, so painted a lot on top of it and scaled the eyes and so on. YES, Photoshopping is more than "adding clipping paths or altering colours" etc like alisommer wisely said. So peace to you all!
This is one truly deserving entry!

I love this piece, this would make a great print (not crazy about the planes) but still it's got a great feel to it.

I would agree with all the positive feedback you've already been given. This illustration shows a lot of care and attention not seen in many of the other submissions. Very nice work indeed! Thanks for sharing, take care....
