Yuri's Favorite Photography Gadget: The 4 Piece Manfrotto Monopod

Posted Monday, 17 November 2008 by Sverre Sjøthun in Photography
Using a monopod takes away the element of luck in getting sharp images and is an essential tool for Yuri. You don't want to select away otherwise great photos because they're not sharp – this video show you all the amazing things you can do with a monopod.
The Manfrotto monopod is one of Yuri Arcurs' most beloved tools and is a combination of four different pieces that Yuri Arcurs has put together to do exactly what he wants it to do:
  • Manfrotto Neotec 685B Monopod (Aprox. $145)
  • Manfrotto 484RC2 Ball head (Aprox. $60)
  • B&H Custom Bracket Kit Digital PRO-SV (Aprox. $260)
  • PG Palm Grip for Digital PRO-M Bracket (Aprox. $20)
  • Horseman Hasselblad H Mount Kit Plate (only if you use Hasselblad) (Aprox. $390)

Thank you Yuri for the detailed info. I was looking for a monopod the last weeks!
Unfortunately I can't afford a couple of them as you do ;) soo... As you told the truth about that particular Manfrotto (or "ripped it in the air" ;) ) I still don't know which monopod to buy, haha.
I'll keep my eyes open and get my hands on some in a store.

Greets from Hamburg and keep up the nice video-series ;),

For that price

For that price, crap, I'll buy a tripod, thanks very much. $800 is a LOT to pay even for a cool piece of gear like this. Even for $145 just for the basic monopod, that's a lot of dough.

I dub that 'The photog pimp stick! ' (in a good way!)

thanks for the honest review and part codes. I have Froot monopod (not as highend) and mini ballhead. Just those two make a great everyday combo. That extra tilt bracket is crazy good.

You can do a lot with just the monopod and the head. You don't need the custom bracket.

Is this necessary to use your solution with an h3d-II ? Or is there an alternative to put the h3d on your combo ?
