There are several ways to transfer images to the crestock server via FTP:

1: Via the FTP link on the 'Bulk upload' page:
If you are not familiar with FTP, and use a windows computer, we recommend connecting via the ftp link on the bulk upload page. You can access this page from the members menu to the right of the page after you've logged on at www.crestock.com.
When you click on the link to ftp.crestock.com you will be asked to confirm your usual crestock password. After you've typed in your password and clicked ok, your folder on the crestock server opens up as a new window.
If you have not previously bulk uploaded images, your folder will only contain a folder named 'temp'. (this is only used to store system-generated thumbnails, so don't put any of your images in here.) If you have previously bulk uploaded files and not yet added keywords etc, your folder will contain these files.
Now you can simply drag & drop your picture files into your folder window. Only drag & drop the actual image files, not folders containing images, across to the server. Do NOT put any files in the TEMP folder, only in the main folder.
After the transfer has completed you should go back to your web browser and click the 'refresh list' link under 'Images ready for upload' on your Bulk upload page. A list of the images you just submitted should now appear. From this point the process is identical to uploading individual images: you have to click on each image to select it and go through to the page where you add keywords, description and category. Only when this is done are the images submitted for evaluation.

Mac user warning:
On a mac running OS X you can also follow the process as described above, and you will be able to log onto your folder on the crestock server. However, due to a surprising design flaw in mac OS X, FTP connections via the Mac 'Finder' are restricted to read-only access, regardless of the server settings.
In other words you can download your previously uploaded images onto your computer again, but you cannot upload images to crestock.com via this method. (All seems fine until you try to drag & drop your picture files into the server window and get an error message saying that the folder cannot be modified.)
For Mac users we recommend using a third-party FTP utility such as Interarchy or Fetch, or alternatively to bulk upload zip files. Please also note that the Crestock server has problems decompressing zip files created in the Mac finder, so again we must recommend that you use a third-party compression utility such as for example Aladdin Stuffit/Dropzip to create your zip files.

2: By specifying Crestock as a new network place in Windows XP:
If you use windows XP you can go to 'my network places', click 'add a network place' and follow the wizard instructions to configure a connection to the Crestock FTP server.
In the 'internet or network address' field you must put the FULL ftp address: 'ftp://ftp.crestock.com'.
Even if you tick the 'log on anonymously' option, you will be prompted to log in with your usual crestock user name and password, since the server needs to identify the user in order to put the pictures in the correct folder.
Once you have connected to the server with your usual Crestock user name and password, your folder on the server opens up as a new window. After this the process is as described in option 1. above.

3: By using a third-party FTP client
There are numerous software applications available to use for FTP uploads, some of which are free. If you already use an FTP client this might be the method of FTP upload you are most comfortable with. Follow the standard log-on procedure for your FTP software; the server address should be set to ftp.crestock.com or ftp://ftp.crestock.com, depending on the FTP client you use. Use your usual Crestock username and password for FTP uploads.
