Im wondering how today´s winning image (the cute little black boy) got a model release??isnt there a way to not need this model release thing? if for example you go take candid shots on the streets, you are not going to bother people with papers and model releases right ?

Probably wouldn't bother people with paperwork either, but then again you can't sell the images for stock or commercial purposes. In certain cases, they can be used for editorial purposes though. I do not beleive Crestock is accepting editorial content; though I may be wrong - check with support on that.

There can obviously be times when getting a model release is more difficult than getting the photo itself. The laws governing photography, privacy and publication of photos vary from country to country, so the exact requirements in this respect will depend both on where the photo is taken and where it will be printed/published (and the latter cannot be controlled by the photographer him/herself when the photos are used for stock).
The main purpose of the model release however, is to provide legal protection for the photographer.
