Attention: New Forum in Progress

Unfortunately, our current forum software is causing us some problems, so we have decided to turn off the posting capabilities - for now. We decided to develop our very own forum to get it just right - and it will be up and running again towards the end of August.

We're sorry for any inconvenience this may cause. Until the new forum is available, you can still browse and read the old forums, but unfortunately not post new messages.

Thank you so much for your patience!

RE: Photoshop Contest: Week 4
Pejot...
....my first reaction when I saw your image this round was "wow, did he make that in just few days? Oh, he's really really good! I'd give him my vote if I could..."

But then someone showed that the main part of the image was made outside the stress and timelines of a competition...which honestly was a let down. I wasn't saying wow anymore, eventhough I still liked the image a lot. You have made the competition images work so well with that "unborn earth-baby"-image...that in many ways it is one of the best "competitors" in this round. There's no getting around that fact.

Pejot, the truth is...(sorry, here comes the nitpicking part) your image is based on a previously made artpiece and not on one of the competition images (which are incorporated to the whole but not a central part of it). Atleast I think so...
When I point this out, it is not because I'm envious or desperate. Maby I just think that you are amazingly good in what you do and wonder why you didn't challege yourself and your talents more, by creating something completelly new for this round...?

I for one did the "blood sweat and tears + lack of sleep"-thing for every rounds image...and failed because the deadline closing in on me (and comparing my unfinished work to others already submitted) just froze me up. Or maby I just need more practice. If only I had an ounce of that ease you and others seem to have in your images...I could rule the world, man. :)

All this said, I am still leaning towards for you staying in this competition. But in the next photoshopping-competition you take part in, please don't let yourself off so easilly. With your talent, I think it's not that difficult to make a masterpiece from scratch in few days. Or do you disagree?

Well said, Stu. In the end, if you've done something you're proud of, than who cares about the score? I think a lot of people (myself included) have taken this contest way to seriously and have forgotten about the reason we design/illustrate to begin with: because it's what we love to do.

That's right. I, too, was stressing through round 3 and 4, the only two I entered. But, in the end, I thought to myself, "Eff it, it's out of my hands, I have a new piece, and met some cool people along the way."

This competition, in the end, served a great purpose. It expedited the creation of the CS community, and contributers are now talking in forums, etc., where before I doubt there was as much back and forth. Debate is good, whether or not it changes anything. It may, at least, give a single person a single new idea, or way of looking at things.

Must jump into work, but just wanted to say hello. See you are from our fair North! First generation A,,Am...American, my family defected to your South in the 60's. With the way things are going here, I take no pause in considering returning to our true homeland.

Hope all is well, and that Bob&Doung McKenize are not dominating the airwaves through the holidays! "Five, golden, tooks . . . and a beer . . . in a tree!"

Yeah, I noticed this cheater guy too. He just put up some stock from this challenge on this old image of his, what a shame! Doesn't he have any imagination at all?

You called me a cheater, are you sure?
You must be so desperate...
That artwork never entered any competition and it's based on a photo of my wife. I mixed it with crestock photos (ostrich hair as grass, ground and desert textures) because it fits perfectly.
C'mon...
Don't play God kids, just let judges do their work.

Peter, you should really try harder the next time. Looks like you just stuck the bubbles photo in as a background for a past piece of work that seems to have been in your portfolio for a while now.

Take a peek a Peter's portfolio. It is rather impressive, and I mean that very sincerely.

Actually like you said it's mine work, I DID it , and its everything good along with the rules and conditions. I can participate like any other guy. So i can't see big problem in here.
And the bubbles fits.

All the best,

Peter does have an enviable portfolio, but we agree that this is not a valid entry according to the contest rules. So does he, so it is no longer in the running for the prize. Another entry, that actually used elements from another of Peter's illustrations, has also been removed.

So there you have it. Existing works with one or two of the photos slapped on do not qualify. I'm sure you're not the only people who did this, but don't act all self righteous when you get caught.

RE: Photoshop Contest: Week 4
yeah according to my clock they should have been in almost a hour ago. But I can be patient thinking that they are being careful and weeding out those that did not respect this friendly contest.

While all these people are online, i wanted to ask advice on my picture.

I really love it and would still love to get constructive input on where other people would have gone with it? Please be nice, this is an honest question, I'm just here to learn. I'm so happy with my score, and really had fun with this contest.
