Attention: New Forum in Progress

Unfortunately, our current forum software is causing us some problems, so we have decided to turn off the posting capabilities - for now. We decided to develop our very own forum to get it just right - and it will be up and running again towards the end of May.

We're sorry for any inconvenience this may cause. Until the new forum is available, you can still browse and read the old forums, but unfortunately not post new messages.

Thank you so much for your patience!

HOW NEW IS THIS SITE
Posted in Newbies on 5. February 2006 by genieslot

Just wondering just how new is this site. I have just joined and had more than usual rejections, but still some approved, only 7 so far out of at least 25. Jean

RE: HOW NEW IS THIS SITE
Hi genieslot,
Crestock went online in October 2005 and we are currently working towards our international launch in May of this year, so we are a new site.
Regarding rejections you may find that we are somewhat stricter in our evaluation of images than many other stock sites. We are also more expensive than some other (= higher returns per sale for the photographer too), so we need to offer the best quality we can.

Born on 26th Oct..like little Nina? :) Is she a daughter of one of you Crestock fellas? :) That reminded me of Truman's Show :)

Crestock has the highest rejection rate, making them less popular with "snapographers" (not that I'm a pro, or something), but when they accept the photo, you know you created something valuable. It's fun watching Crestock's rejected images passing the control point at some other lower-quality stock sites.

RE: HOW NEW IS THIS SITE
hi

i think that it needs to be the high downloads potential of the photographs on the other side of the strict evaluation of images.

is this site will be the more popular in the world with time? how to increase downloads of the photographs? how to increase my motivation to make the best photographs? i wanto to make it, and i want to feel some credits in my account. :))

sorry for my english. best regards, deni.

Hi guys,
I guess I am the newest member here I registered 2 minutes ago :-)
And I already put about 50-60 images,I will give the results when they pass the inspectors upload/rejection rate.
However I have100-300 pics up on other microstocks,I am not much of a photographer I get per site only 1-6 downloads a day and this month on the highest site I just rich 50$ what is really bad.
Well I hope I will improve.
I just want to give it a go here also with few pics.
Happy shooting to everybody,
Lucian

RE: HOW NEW IS THIS SITE
Hi everyone.  I joined here about 10 days ago and the bulk of my uploads are pending.  Have three rejections for lack of creative composition, which baffles me, but will try and figure it out!  Seems to me that the composition on the rejects were certainly not the typical, but what do I know.

I have been an observer in the stock photography market for four years.  I have sold about two dozen photographs, at $20 to $100 each, but all sales were based on composition.  My technical ability has been horrible, mostly as the result of a really bad monitor that I did not know was bad, even though I calibrated it, supposedly.  But, I could not see the marks I was creating when cloning out anything subject to copyright or the color properly.  Argh!  I recently learned how my photos really look and have pulled down most of them and am starting over.  Thankfully, I still have the originals of all my photographs and a new monitor.

Good luck to everyone.

RE: HOW NEW IS THIS SITE
I am sure the site will be a sucess, it is quite slick compared to many I have seen. My downloads have been a bit slow compared to some others sites but I am sure it is only a matter of time before it becomes more popular.
