Crestock Version 2 launched this afternoon (1:00pm GMT)
With this launch we have introduced a personal and customisable mini-site (My Crestock) for each of our members within Crestock. Our long-term ambitions are to transform Crestock into something much more than simply an upload and download machine, and we consider our V2 a huge step forward in this respect. We hope that as many as possible of of you will take advantage of what's on offer on 'My Crestock' and start personalising your pages.
Your new 'My Crestock' pages are accessible from your Members menu through a new link called 'My Crestock'. On your first visit you must activate your profile before you can start editing your site.
Visitors browsing crestock.com find 'your Crestock' through the 'photographer' link below preview images on the site, which previously brought them to your portfolio.
Here's an outline of the features available on your new 'My Crestock' pages:
A basic personal profile comprising your user name, a portrait or other profile image of your choice, your country, location, local time, local weather, details of uploads and downloads as well as a link to your own website if you have one.
There is also a range of features that you yourself customise, including:
• A mini question and answer section.
• A presentation of your personal favourite images, including a 'comment' feature that enables other people to comment on your images.
• A presentation of your crestock portfolio
• A blog feature – again with the possibility for others to comment on your entries.
• A 'gear' section where you can show off what equipment you use to capture/create your images.
Furthermore there's a 'My network' feature that gives easy access to other members' Crestock pages and should encourage everyone to network with fellow contributors, make friends and be happy! :)

Thanks, I considere it a good improvement.

I also find it interesting. For those people who don't have a personal web page it's ideal to gather all the important data at one place.
Only, you sshouldjoin profiles for the forums and the MyCrestock. But I guess it's a bigger job than the benefit is :)
And when mentioning forums..what browser do you use. I use firefox at the moment, and this textbox I'm just typing into only has one row available. The rest of the textbox is locked, so it's pretty confusing. Can you check it?

Hi Voyager,
We hope to have the forum and people's 'My Crestock' pages linked very soon, this is something that we find really important to get fixed.
In the meantime you could use the rather oldfashioned work-around of typing in the url for a forum member you want to find out more about: the main url for 'My Crestock' is www.crestock.com/artist/ – followed by the respective member's username, for example www.crestock.com/artist/voyager. I hope this can be of some help in the meantime.
The 'one line' in Firefox & Safari is also an unneccesary annoyance, and something that's on our "get this fixed!" list. We will keep you posted on the progress here.

Maybe it would also be very useful to have a link to the upload area if you're in "my crestock". The only way to get there now seems to be to log out and login again. The same happens when you press on home. I don't think it makes sense that you get logged off automatically if you do that... Saves logging in all the time...;)

Or hitting back buton several times :)

We have now linked the forum and people's 'My Crestock' pages, so when you click on someone's user name in the forum you go straight to their page.
The problem of the 'one line' textbox in Firefox and Safari has also been fixed, and we have changed the editing settings so that members can edit or delete their own messages (but not if the message started a new topic).
Regarding Fotosmurf's suggestions we plan to move most of the functions from the members menu into the 'My Crestock' area, including the upload functions. Bear with us in the meantime...
When you say that you have to log out and then in again we would be interested if you could tell us exactly what you mean here – logging in at 'your crestock' should log you on to the site overall, giving automatic access to the members menu and upload features when you go across to the main pages, and visa versa. Is this not the case in your experience? Please let us know.

If I am in the 'My crestock' area and I hit the 'home' button it automatically logs me out. So in order to get anywhere from there I have to login again. Not sure if it has anything to do with my browser but just for reference it is IE 6.0Let me know if that makes sense..
