I am completely new to this just wanted to know if one has an image with a recognizable brand name or part of a name or symbol if this is allowed to be uploaded. I would guess no, but just wanted some facts on the issue. (example) seeing a a person drinking a soft drink and you are able to see that its a can of Pepsi. Any help would be appreciated.
RE: Policy about images with reconizable brand names?
Hi,
Crestock has a similar position to most other stock photo libraries on this issue: as a general rule we cannot accept photos with visible logos.
There are several good reasons for this; first of all, visible logos in your photos will often make the images less versatile, particularly if the logo is prominent. More importantly however, the company in question could decide to take legal action against you if they feel that the photo itself, or the context it is being used in, misrepresents the company or damages their reputation.
We do try to use our common sense, so if the image is question happens to be a night-time view of downtown Tokyo, with hundreds of neon-lit logos visible, we will most likely accept it, but it is always better to exercise caution when it comes to branding and copyright issues.
