Forum

Attention: New Forum in Progress

Unfortunately, our current forum software is causing us some problems, so we have decided to turn off the posting capabilities - for now. We decided to develop our very own forum to get it just right - and it will be up and running again towards the end of August.

We're sorry for any inconvenience this may cause. Until the new forum is available, you can still browse and read the old forums, but unfortunately not post new messages.

Thank you so much for your patience!

'My Crestock' instructions
Posted in F.A.Q. on 21. March 2006 by Crestock

Your 'My Crestock' pages are accessible from your Members menu through a link called 'My Crestock'.
Your Crestock page includes a combination of system-generated information (user name, country and number of uploads, most downloaded and best rated) and entries that you yourself choose and edit (favourite photos, blog, your gear and network.)

Activating your profile
On your first visit you must activate your profile before you can start editing your site.
The registration page includes a mini 'Crestock Q&A' (question&answer) section that you can either complete straight away or go back to later if you prefer
On this page you should also specify your timezone to display your local time as part of your personal profile.

Most of the information on your 'homepage' is edited through the 'My Settings' menu:
(You must activate your profile before you can access the 'my settings' menu and start editing your site)

Basic instructions are provided for each of the settings in this menu on the relevant pages.
• To write a new entry in your blog, choose 'New post' in the top right-hand corner on the 'Blog' page.
• To add entries to your 'Gear' page, click 'Add gear' in the top right-hand corner of this page.

The 'Most downloaded' and 'Best rated' entries are both system generated. All pictures added to the Crestock collection are given a rating between 1 and 10, and the image shown under 'Best rated' is your best rated (by Crestock) image. If you click it you get an overview of your top 20 rated images.
The 'Most downloaded' is probably self-explanatory – this is the image that has been sold the most number of times. If several images have the same number of downloads, your most recent submission is given priority.

Displaying your local weather:
There is also a 'my weather' feature which displays your local weather:

If you live in a major city this will be automatically activated based on the city specified in your registration details. If not you may have to activate it yourself. To do this you need to find the city closest to you that provides weather information. Click the 'Find location ID' link and type the name of your nearest city – as it is know in the english-speaking world ('Venice' instead of 'Venezia' and 'Cologne' instead of 'Köln'):
(If no match can be found, try a larger city until you get a match.)

Firefox, Safari and Mozilla users:
There is a bug in the system which affects the Firefox, Safari and Mozilla browsers.
It causes the 'Go' button in the top righthand corner of the page to override all other buttons on the page. If you type something in the searchfields used to specify your favourite images and hit 'return' you will activate the 'Go' button on top of the page rather than the button next to the searchfield.
If you have this problem, try using the mouse to press the button and you should get the result you want.

We are working on resolving this problem ASAP.
