Why has my image been cropped? Unfortunately this way it is not available as Medium size... I submitted it 3008x2000 and after being accepted it's only 1631 x 2453.

Similar thing happened to a post of mine a day or so ago. Was a 10 mpixel image, but now it shows it as a 4 mp image.
What happened?

Hmmm - that's quite a difference... Sorry to hear that. Let's see what Crestock has to say...

Hi Badboo and David, it seems that you have been among the first to be at the receiving end of a new feature that we have just introduced as part of our evaluation system, apologies that our information about this has been lacking so far.
Yes, we have just introduced a new option in our evaluation where we can accept images, but at a smaller size than originally submitted. One reason for this is the ever-increasing resolutions on digital cameras, which means that we receive more and more images at 10MP and above. Unfortunately, the optics often can't keep up with the sensor resolution, meaning that the images often fall a bit short in terms of technical quality - relative to the image size.
It was getting rather frustrating having to reject images because they fell just a little short of the technical standard expected from an image at a very high resolution, which is why we chose to introduce an 'inbetween option', where images are not rejected outright, but accepted at a smaller size instead.
Now, we don't expect everyone to agree with our use of this function all the time, but overall we think this will be good news for everyone, we believe it will reduce the rejection rate quite significantly. The only drawback is that the images in question, like you've pointed out, will only become available in the small size.
It would be great to know what everyone thinks about this too.

OK, thanks for the reply.
I am ok with that. However it was confusing since there was no announcement about this feature...
I have been missing a lot of news updates lately since we are also waiting for the anticipated new status page!!!

I have just realised that I have a load of photos only available as small because they are at 2000 by 3000. I have always resized photos to these dimensions just to guarantee quality.
Could you let us know the size limits as it seems as if I could have put them up at 2010 by 3010 and had them available at medium size too.

are they just resized or cropped in?

Hi,
No, images are never cropped (I think Badboo meant to say scaled rather than cropped). They are, when necessary, scaled without any change to the actual composition or image area.
