I see that a person can sort photo's (when searching) by rating.

What is this rating, and is it visible to either the prospective buyer or the submitting photographer? (I can't find an actual numeric score anywhere.)

Is it simply a one-time static rating given by the reviewer, or is it based somewhat on number of downloads?

Thanks,

David.

Hi David,

Yes, the rating system we have is part of the evaluation process, it's just one more factor that gives us better control over the results our search engine returns. Usually the rating is a one-off event, although we do occasionally reassess this rating as the image database expands.

The rating isn't really intended as a comprehensive judgement of an image's merits, so as such it is just there 'in the background' rather than publicised as part of the file info.
