Attention: New Forum in Progress

Unfortunately, our current forum software is causing us some problems, so we have decided to turn off the posting capabilities - for now. We decided to develop our very own forum to get it just right - and it will be up and running again towards the end of May.

We're sorry for any inconvenience this may cause. Until the new forum is available, you can still browse and read the old forums, but unfortunately not post new messages.

Thank you so much for your patience!

Canon EOS 40d
Posted in Digital Photography on 14. September 2007 by joshDK

I'm about to order one of the new (only released in Australia and HK, I think) EOS 40d's...

Does anyone have any good reasons why I shouldn't?? The only two other options is the cheaper 400d (not an option) or should I hold out save my pennies for a 5d?

The canon thing is a foregone conclusion as everyone in the office here has canon cameras and therefore a decent collection of lenses is at hand.

And, finally, just quickly, what about the price of the 40d? Is it likely to drop over the next few months after its release in other countries? I'm no experienced gear junkie, so maybe someone can share their previous observations there...

Thanks guys.

RE: Canon EOS 40d
Canon released many things now so I think we have to wait a little time until the 5d's big brother appears.

As I read on dpreview.com, 40d is a very fine piece with 14-bit sensor. Josh, I'd like to hear your opinion about this camera after you receive it. Thank you!

RE: Canon EOS 40d
Well, the 40d came a week ago... And, though I've not had too much time to get to know it so intimately, I'm really really impressed with it. Its such a pleasure to shoot with... Live view on a 3inch LCD, and really quick access to your custom settings. I've not used a 30d, but it seems a big step up from a 20d.

This camera is highly recommended! (by me)

Have fun with your 40D, I am still waiting for mine. I have the 30D so it will not be such a big step, but I am really looking forward to it.:)
