Dont select & delete: create a layer mask. select the layer mask, make your selection and then use the gradient tool to blend in the layer. You can then place your sky below and it will show through the layer mask !

Something that is really important on this ... edit at 100% zoom (especially if you are using the quick magic wand route) .. Remember all images are inspected at 100% so if you don't take the time to remove/replace a portion of the image it's going to stick out like a sore thumb when being inspected and end up rejected. Also try to avoid hard contrasting lines between areas ... It all depends on the tool and method you use ... If you are using an eraser make sure it does not have a 100% hardness setting .. if you are deleting through selections make sure that you feather it first. It will make a huge difference in the quality of your image.
