I tried that type of uploading at - - - - -, and found it extremely useful and comfortable.
Let I desribe what are so attractive for me in this technology.
I have relatively slow connection from my workplace to Internet (upstream is 64kbit/s only). Meanwhile I have webhosting at my ISP, with ftp at full local speed (I can upload @2.3 Mbit/s). So, first I upload files on my webhosting, then they are available from http. So, in this case upload 50 Mb of images takes several minutes instead of several hours. :w00t:
Dear Sirs at Crestock.com, whould you like to allow bulk uploading from other http's? This should be very appreciated. :)

I tried bulk uploading using the Crestock Bulk Upload page. I clicked on the ftp.crestock.com link on that page and a window titled friendlydragon@ftp.crestock opened on my desktop. However, when I tried to drag jpg files into it, I got a message saying I could not do that because 'this folder cannot be modified'. When I got info about the folder it had its permissions set to Read Only. I contacted Crestock Support, but so far they've not been able to sort this out.
I'm using MacOSX 10.4.8. Has anyone else had this problem, or found a workaround?

This is a problem/limitation in Mac OS X – whereas you can connect to FTP servers via the finder, like you describe, the volume will mount as a read-only volume, meaning you can copy from it, but not write to it, which is usually what you want to do with the Crestock server.
The only way around this for Mac users is to use a third-party FTP application.

Hi Starush,
We have done a bit of investigation on this matter. This is the first time we have had a request about this, so unless there is increased demand for this, it is unlikely that we will create an automated system for uploading from other URLs.
You should, however, be able to do what you describe (do transfers between two remote servers) if your FTP client supports FXP.
More information about FXP for those interested at Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FXP
Best regards,

Thank you for answer. I know about FXP, but "my" FTP server does not allow it. But it's ok, today I have made some investments and dramatically increased my upload speed, so uploading is not my biggest problem for now :)
