I've been wondering this, who's buying, and who is likely to have pictures sold, and what sort of pictures are selling. That way I know how not to waste my time, and to target likely needs.

If it's publishers, I'll check out random books and information books in bookstores, advertisers, I'll pay more attention in trains, travel agents, I'll nose around in there a bit more often... all just to get a feel for things.

My advice would be to see what sells on the other microstock sites on which you have your photos.  It would be a waste of time to try to predict the market.  It's best to upload what you have, then let people buy it if they need it.  No one will do your research for you*, so just check out what sells elsewhere.

*on some sites they will.  I don't understand people who help their direct competition, but some sites have forums with people who will tell you everything to their own detriment.  Whatever.

Thanks.

For the record, somebody has already reported one of their portrait pictures has been used on a roadside advertisement. What else has gone where?
