Before I started posting pictures to Crestock, I upgraded my equipment to a Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ30. I love it, and at 8MP I thought the pictures would be fine for photolibrary use. However

The main drawback of 'SLR-style' compacts like the Lumix is that, although the specifications in many respects are on par with an SLR, the sensor itself is tiny compared to that in an SLR. On the Lumix it is apparently 7.18 x 5.32 m

It might be worth waiting to check out the new Pentax K10D when it eventually gets into the shops.
Early reports indicate that it might slot into the market much like the grossly underestimated MX and LX units of yesteryear.
