As many of us have pointed out in the other forums, there seems to be no logical, rational and consistent reasoining to the rejections. You must realize that for us contributers there is a threshold of pain, which is directly related to our ROI. If we exceed that threshold we eliminate that which causes an increased level of work for little return. Your forums are full of folks expressing this discontent, and I am concerned that your fledgeling site may have already created a level of this discontent that it is rippling through the forums on others sites, that Crestock affords little ROI for contributers. I hate to see anything untoward happen to new enterprises, but I would urge you to establish greater uniformity and define exactly what you arer looking for, and who your target market is so that contributers can better understand exactly what to expect. Fantastic answer, and as for my 25 cents worth; I have 15 years in quality control in the electronics biz and 10 on the help desk of major UK govenment security dept, I got paid to spot problems - and big ones. As for my photography skills, although they're not brilliant (and have chanced a few submissions with' fingers crossed', I believe Jeffs comments reflect very well a contibutor mind-set that is detrimental to the company as a whole, and strangely enough that's not our role as a contibutor to address. Reject the rubbish by all means, but without consistancy on the good stuff it does hurt. One example (and I don't really like giving them), my best selling image (nearly 1000 DL's on other agenies), hasn't stood a chance here at Crestock, dispite several submission attempts; each time with a diffent reason for rejection! I know it's a good image, IS and SS know it's a good image, 1000 buyers know it's a good image, but for some reason, it's just not good enough here. Lots of typing from me, sorry, but what I really wanted to say is this; you have a great team assembled, and have a good site, but you do have a problem - contributor moral - unless you address it as team, you'll get yourselves a bad 'vibe' in the marketplace and I'm afraid if what Jeff has hinted at, it's already started. All we want is a little consistancy or we'll go elsewhere, just like some of the buyers.

| | Wouldnt you think that it was important for the staff to keep the forum active? To get their members involved and so it shows that it is a active forum? Who is the ACTIVE lineup? Just wondering who is actually active here... I dont think anyone of these people are really currently a "lineup" for Crestock. This is not even updated. Update your forum lineup!

| | Hi everyone- I just signed up here today but I'm not at all new to ms. Throwing in my 2 cents, I think the ebb and flow of contributers from other agencies vying to get away from some of the more conglomerate agencies (like Getty) and their means of business will show a flux of people here soon, if it hasn't already. Looking through the server images here it looks like there is an extremely high standard which is great- but it also shows that there are going to be a bunch of people who just don't want to bother with the time and energy of uploading if there is a high rejection ratio. I'm not sure what I'm going to do at the moment. I just deleted most of my stock xchange folio due to the takeover there and the fact my admin abilities were stripped of me and the other admin. I still get more sales through SXP than iStockphoto, so Im staying there for now... I think Im going to feel out where a bunch of my other photographer friends are going first before I start investing my time and energy, but so far I like the feel of crestock. I will reccomend it to my husband who is a creative director for an agency, here in Portland, and see what they think, too. |
