| | Looking at the scores for the various entries for week 1 of the contest, some of you have been wondering if our optimistically democratic "everyone can vote" approach was really working, and to what extent the friendly reminder in the rulebook that vote rigging would not be tolerated would/could be enforced.
Well, it seems that the threat of disqualification didn't put everyone off trying a bit of vote-rigging – a quick review of the votes cast up until Monday morning resulted in 5595 of a total of 12077 votes being discarded as duplicate votes. The current scores reflect the remaining validated votes.
All further votes were validated before announcing the winner on Wednesday 29 Nov.
For subsequent weeks, as the stakes are getting higher, we will increase security – both to give the contestants peace of mind that the public voting happens in a controlled manner and to give a more accurate score for all entries throughout the contest. In coming weeks only registered members will be able to vote
(And if you have voted on entries and then decide to contribute yourself, the votes you have previously cast will be cancelled automatically) |
| | I think that the democratic vote approach might be a disaster for this contest, especially from now on.
The stakes are too high, and I'm sure there are a lotta people (mot of them probably with lower quality designs) that would do just about anything to get (or keep) their ratings up.
Don't forget that voting can work in different ways..you probably are expecting people to get other people to vote for them big points...but, just the same, they can have people vote AGAINST the competition, and I'm sure there is practically no way for you to spot such irregularities.
First week seemed to go well, since the winners and the runners-up were undoubtedly among the best, but then again, the stakes were much lower, and the contest was less popular...
Just my 2 cents. |
| | You have a point there...
I think that there will be things like that happening big time.
Especially for the "uber mac" and the LCD's which are worth a lot of money.
I wouldnt suprise if someone pays to people to vote for him...:ermm: |
| | The fact is that many of the scores are lowered (even after the fact that only registred users can vote), and that is very noticable.
cheers |
| | It seems that Crestock is keeping things under control pretty well. I would have picked the same week1 winners, and I see that week2 highest ratings are standing next to the best art works.
However, I have no doubts that anyone entering the contest will notify all his/her friends to sign up and vote for them. :) |
| | 46% of the first round votes dud?
Nice to see my opinion of the human race vindicated once again.:crying: |
