The Good, The Bad and The Ugly – Top 20 funniest Photoshop Jobs

During the past month, the Crestock Photoshop Contest has generated more than a thousand entries, ranging from the amazing to the ridiculous. Among these, there where a great many funny and striking images with cleverly thought out ideas and great technical execution, as well as images that where simply so absurd/nerdy/stupid/awful that we couldn't help laughing.

Below, you will find the Crestock Team's very subjective selection of favourite entries:

Digg!

ROUND 1:

The source images used in week 1:

Waaah, what's going on here!? Did the guy grow up too close to the nuclear dump or something? Every time we look at this image, all we really want to do is look away, but we can't take our eyes of it...

Now we're talking! A scary guy with a bad haircut, wearing our favorite combination of classy clothing; white sneakers, Adidas superstar tracksuit bottoms and a black leather jacket, all superimosed on a huge sunflower in the sky. How could anyone NOT be impressed by the complete weirdness of this image?

The utensils strike back! We like the way this image blends the old man and the utensils in a way that makes it resemble an actual rennaisance fresco by one of the old masters – as if the utensils of judgement where an ordinary theme in such works.

Mona...Geezer? The old man was a recurring character in the first round; his face seems to be the common denominator in our list. Instead of having people marvel at the enigmatic smile of the original Mona Lisa, this image has you wondering about what this strangely clad old man is staring so intensely at.

And just when you thought it was safe to step out into the garden: "Even before the gigantic sunflower spoke, Old Man Johnson knew that his day of reconing had come"

ROUND 2:

The source images used in week 2:

Such a great idea, you would need a very special mind to think up something like this. If you're wondering, that's Newark International Airport, go look it up in Google Earth yourself.

We didn't recieve a great many homoerotic images in this competition, so this image certainly caught our eye.

Well done for turning such a sweet looking girl into this bloody scary mess!

There are a lot of logical flaws with this image, but we doubt that this oblique interpretation of "butterfly sexuality" is something that will prompt a long and serious analysis. Funny, and just a little bit disturbing.

ROUND 3:

Fabulously over-the-top! We did miss the flying whales though.

Like the vampire image in round two, here the artist has done a great job at turning a sweet little kid into a grotesque pig-like creature.

lol.

Right... We're not quite sure in how far this bottle/hammer montage hammers home (excuse the pun) the virtues of fire insurance, but hey, perhaps it's just meant to be subconciously subversive!

Watch out, or you might cut your retinas on the crude edges of this not-so-perfect edit. We love the way the little boy and the bottle seem to have been thrown into the image at random, without worrying too much about things like perspective.

ROUND 4:

The source images used in week 4:

Ostriches are temperamental creatures at the best of times, and with this one, we will keep our shotgun loaded at all times. Stay away you demon!

"Santa's little helpers"
– Compared to the satanic bird above, these fellows look more mutated and deranged than evil.

Brilliant idea! Must have been quite a spectacle to watch when the traveller jammed that poor ostrich into his suitcase.

So crude and messy, we couldn't help loving it. The special effects beat those of your average Star Trek episode.

This looks like it might actually have been created with the wonderfully awful program MS Paint. This very ugly, very nerdy piece of work will either have you rolling around on the floor laughing, or scratching your head, wondering what the fuss is all about.

If the contest was about jamming as much different stuff as possible into an image, this entry would have been the undisputed winner. The amount of different, completely unrelated elements compiled here is quite impressive, especially the green giant standing sentinel in the upper left corner.
