| | Harley may own the photograph taken of that room, but WB owns the image on the TV. Same rules apply if you take a picture of someone and intend to sell it as a stock photo, you simply don't own the image of them unless they say so. It is my opinion though, that even without that, none of the contest images are the focal point of this image. They are placed carefully, but only thinly connected other than the camera and photo on the floor.
The 2nd place image also relies a bit on a background image, but the scene with the robot camera and egg are the clear focal point. I'm in no place to know how much of the 2nd place work was already created, but assuming most of it already was, the work that would be required for this is limited and is probably borderline disqualifiable if there were proof of the original image somewhere. In that case, one of the other robotic camera images should be in 2nd place instead of this one. I don't mind either way since this contest has been a little FUBAR since day 1 (I think the text explaining the contest is fundamentally flawed), but it is a good image without any doubt when viewed objectively outside of any contest or other context.
The 3rd place image is my favorite of the top 3 and probably the only one of them that left an impression. Outside of this contest I don't think I would consider it as striking, but with everything required of the contest and the images provided, I agree it's near perfect and beautifully executed.
Given all that, I'm pretty sure there are several images that project more excellence, vision and effort than the top 2 or some of the runners up. I'd point some out, but I don't feel like going through 16 pages of them.
And Jurch: The winner is from New York, the other top 2 are from Finland.-Crache |

| | The prize went to wrong image!:( |
| | We all know what we're looking at as the winner. We're not blind. This was a big miss by the judges and a big mess by Crestock. Come on...
I would be very surprised if Crestock admitted that the judges made a mistake and that they are unable to follow the rules & conditions of their own contest. I'd also be very surprised if they actually removed all of the votes "deemed to be suspicious or insincere". That's an awful lot of 1's and 2's to remove. Again, I doubt they can follow their own rules there either. I would say that even if they improve upon this debacle in the future by holding another contest that's actually run in a professional manner, a lot of people from this year's contest won't even bother entering. And that's just sad, Crestock, because this was a great idea, and you were extremely generous with the prizes. To bad it wasn't run in a common sense manner. |
| | This is just ridiculous. First, the really retarded voting system which led GREAT images to get some absurdly low votes, and now the jury who chose the images based on a WTF logic. I'm not sad I didn't win, I'm just really pissed that the people who really should, didn't.
This really gets to me. Come on, you can't call this a Photoshop contest. Or a contest at all. Anyway, congrats to the lucky one who got the prize. I bet he'll use Windows under BaseCamp on his brand new mac. |
| | Hey Crache!About the 2nd place image: The whole image was created from scratch after the release of the 5 contest images for week 4. The whole thing took 3 nights to finish. The paint job is 100% mine, and so is the coal plant material used for the background. Thanks for the comments, Pekka P.S. for more of the same: http://www.dlvisions.fi/~pveik/ |
| | Perhaps the judging of print design/illustration should have been left to print designers or illustrators. There were maybe 2 or 3 judges (out of 22), that I could tell by thier profile, actually might do this as a career... The rest were almost exclusively web designers/editors. Would you get an illustrator to judge a web design contest? I think not.... |

DO THE RIGHT THING AND GIVE IT TO PEKKA, CRESTOCK!! This may be your only redemption after this contest. |
| | This one still cracks me up every time I see it. The grouping of images is as fantastic as it is random. |

First ... Poland - Big letter!
Somebody should learn you to more respect Poland and polish ppl !
U r envy? We have many good graphic artists! Good graphic = first place. ;] |
| | first place is a big lool ... imo. |
| | Reading all of your comments make me laugh. It doesn't matter how long a person takes to complete their image it's the idea behind it, and this was a good idea. Wouldn't be my first choice but I'm sure none of you care what my personal choice would be. So congratulations to the winner. Everyone else that is bitching about it should suck it up and if you don't like the judging practices then don't be a part of these types of competitions, or at least keep your negative comments to yourselves. I'm sure you all believe that you are amazing at what you do and if you truly are then go out and buy that awesome computer with the boat loads of money that you are getting for the images that you create. If not, be happy for the guy / girl that made the winning image and lets hope they take full advantage of the prize.
Happy holidays everyone. Don't let shit get you down.
Peace |
| | hahahaha... you sad people... Get over it, there was a winner and thats it. If you'r affraid to lose.... Don't post your work to a contest ! |
| | Thank you. That's what I'm trying to say. |
| | I think this competition is a shame no matter what. I mean the winning image..Come on..there was at least 10 entries that should've taken the first place. I don't really mind me, but others had awesome entries. This dude took a photo and slapped all 5 images in like 10-15 mins and bam he wins!?
The girl under the ground, the apocalyptic camera overlooking the egg and a few others all deserved to win. All true art, you see a lot of detailing went into them, but no..it's feally funny. Just compare the week 3 winner and this, what a difference! With an eye like this and disorganization in voting and judging, you don't become a good stock photo company I'll tell you that. |

Oh please, LET IT GO.... it doesn't matter how long it takes to make a image. If you can't see why the winner was a winner then you have something to learn. nfinity (12/23/2006)

Thats why you aren't judging!
By the way, that "underground girl" is an old picture by that artist (Pawel Jonca)
So, stop playing wise when you don't know much. and... Pleas take few lessons in "reading images" before you post any comments. |
| | konkurs jak amotorszczyzna. porazka !!! bylo mase ciekawszych prac. 3 miejsce ok al reszta.... praktycznie nic z udostepnionych prac. dodane do innych zdjec.... szkoda czasu. |
| | holy bunch of sore losers batman. you should be grateful that crestock even offered this contest. i wouldn't be surprised if they don't continue after all the complaints. |
