Hi! I just thinking about to buy sony alfa 300 or 350 is a good idea? Or maybe Canon EOS 1000 will be better. Please help.

Have yous seen the list of cameras that Josh has suggested for use for submitting to Crestock? The Sony Cameras are not one of them but the Canon EOS are among them I personally liked the clarity and quality of pictures that Canon EOS gives me. Plus its a great camera with many functions!

Thanks for anserw but Josh wrote "This is not a comprehensive list. We've included only Nikon and Canon" thats why Iam asking because Iam not sure which one to buy. I had a look on that sony and its look verry similar to Canon but its much cheaper. What to do?

grf: I would first have a look at some reviews for the different cameras - I find the reviews at dpreview.com to be extremely comprehensive and reliable. Here's a link to the conclusion of their review of the Sony A350.

In the end it is image quality that matters though, and they do conclude about the A350 that "The biggest reservations we have about this camera, though, relate to its image quality. On paper and when shooting resolution charts, the A350 is an impressive performer but that prowess doesn't always hold up when you step outside the studio".

At the moment, the Canon EOS 1000D seems to be a little cheaper than the Sony A350 in the UK, so I can't see a compelling financial reason for choosing the Sony over Canon - I don't know where you have checked prices?

Sony dSLRs often seem to out-perform most of the competition on paper, but other manufacturers may still have the upper hand when it comes to image quality. Then again, I use Canon so I might be biased in my opinions.

Pretty much any entry-level dSLR in production at the moment is amazing value for money, but it's still important to consider your choice carefully before you start investing in lenses etc.

I am Nikonian, but true is that each camera and manufacturer has some + and some -.So my vote is for D60, it is good camera but toy.For more serious use I recomand D90.With D90 You can use older AF lens that You can buy second hend for good price. If You want to work with only one lens than D60 is good enough but in combination with Nikkor 18-200VR.

Hi grf,

Have you decided yet? Sony and Olympus are among those cameras that needs some special interests. Nikon and Canon are huge branded names which are known by far more people than the Olympus and Sony cameras. Many believes that Sony and Olympus are for special interested buyers, but go and have a hands-on before you decide. I have tried them all, meaning the cheapest of Canon, Nikon, Sony and Olympus and the fact is the quality from an Olympus feels more expensive for a low budget buyer.

Good luck!!

Cheers,

Arve

Good choice!

I haven't had the chance to play with this Pentax myself, but I am sure there is lot's of used lenses depending on your area of course. In Finland it's stores selling used over the net next to the new. One can make a bargain the way. :o)

That said, it's better if you get to try the used lens on your camera to test, the internet kind of limit that possibility...

Good luck!!

Cheers,

Arve
