Any ideas about getting photos online with a portfolio? I've been thinking about this, recently, but custom design prices are scary with some quotes as high as +$3000USD.

I've come across a couple of web template services for photographers that provide versatile designs and search engine visibility for as little as 10% of designer fees.

Clickbooq.com

Clickbooq offer easy setup and unlimited design combinations for a portfolio. Prices are still not cheap with payment plans - monthly, annual or one-time.  ($79/month, $699/yr or $1699/pay once)

Examples:

Livebooks.com

Livebooks seem to offer mainly the same as clickbooq but i get the feeling they emphasis SEO functionality a bit better. They also offer a student special price. A livebooks basic package starts at $800 for pros and ends at $3200. Students get offered a deal for $99 tho i'm not entirely sure about the limitations of the student deal other than you need to be a photo student.

Examples

And, to round it up a good example of a custom design job from one of our own contributors, Erik Reis (ikophoto).

Nice work, Erik. Its worth seeing the interface that loads the images in stages, nice.

Anybody got some useful tips or solutions to portfolio management for photographers?

There's also http://www.foliodriver.com which is a new comer to this field. It's still quite new unlike the others, but it looks pretty good so far.

:) if you know the people who produce foliodriver, you can ask them from me what it is their product actually does. I got no idea of their product from looking at their site... not really a good start for someone you're looking to use to promote your own work.

If you have an Apple Mac the Mobile ME service is nice and very small learning curve to create a web gallery. Also price is very reasonable and can get you on the web on the cheap making a really nice profile.
