I want to get a copy of those advertised PhotoShop CS  that do not come with manuals or fancy boxes and supposedly sell cheap - I can buy a book later for the tutorials. I don't want to get ripped off and want to know if someone has bought CS this way and if that is legal.

I am still using PhotoShop 5 and I am content with it, but think I could do things faster with CS. Anyone?:D

Ok, I know this is not the answer you'd appritiate the most, but it is what it is.

You will need a client, like Azureus or similar.

A little confusing, but hey!  I will give it a try.... I am tired of switching between my PC and my Mac:cool:

I bought PS 7 this way, and saved a bundle. If you order using a credit card you always have the option of going into dispute with the sellers.
It worked fine for me. I received a full, legal copy of PS, just no manuals You would n't read them anyway, as they are as dull as watching paint dry.

While it is entirely possible that you may end up with a "legal" version, you will find that the manual are useful. However there are several other books like "Photoshop CS2 RAW" by Mikkel Aaland that are much better and more interesting.
