Congrats to the winner! I'm glad the judges mixed things up a bit and didn't base the selection too much on the votes.
Jyrus!

Congratulations! Well deserved.

Wow, all of the top 15 entries are just amazing. Good work guys!
Congrats!

The fact that many of the top 15 had relatively low popular votes restores some of my lost faith in the contest. Thank you to the professional judges for doing their job properly.

Grats to the winner and the top 15. Excellent work. Can't wait for next Friday when the winner of round 3 is decided!
Well deserved!
By rayvolvez on Friday, 7 December 2007 4:29 PM
Well deserved! I really love the works chosen. My favourite piece which was the teddy bear didnt make it, I thought that was good, but that was a overlooked piece in terms of votes. But those above who made it, are great value.

Also this goes to show another thing : Crestock can and they will actually overpower the riggers and the frauders.

Good choice Crestock.
Good one, Sir!

Congratulations Jyrus, the other top 15, and those other outstanding artists who didn't make it. Some excellent work, and it's an honour to be a part of it.

Love the creativity but...

I love the top 15. All are by far better than I came up with but I do have one nit. The contest was promoted as a Photoshop contest. I was assuming it was to see the skill and precision the artists have with the filters, brushes, styles, lighting etc. within Photoshop. Most of the entries which received the highest votes are clearly works of Maya or 3D Studio Max. Don't get me wrong, I love the entries however they were created (unless ripped off from someone else.). But not exactly a "Photoshop" contest anymore right?

Some wicked entries in the top 15! Congratulations Jyrus on your well deserved win! Absolutely love all the details in your piece, amazing!

Thanks for the kind comments everyone, and thanks to the judges! I'm absolutely ecstatic right now... I don't know how I'm gonna finish getting work done now.

It was completely worth drawing about a BILLION clipping paths.
Great work!

Nestr and Pejot's entries are the two that I would personally frame and put on my wall. But they all deserve their position on this list!
GREAT!!

By AJ on Friday, 7 December 2007 8:12 PM

thanks for the compliments
By nestr on Friday, 7 December 2007 9:17 PM
thanks gudmund and j909
I'm glad it's not strictly photoshop
By lindy on Saturday, 8 December 2007 4:10 AM
I've noticed reading through the comments that some people are a little peeved about some entries not having the "photoshop touch." In defense of Crestock, I think it is good they are lenient about this requirement. Reading between the lines I think Crestock's competition is about artisitic skill and artists communicating a message as much as it is about being skilled at using Photoshop. It's also a worldwide competition and the reality is not everyone in the world can afford Photoshop. Some don't even have the computer-power to run it. Some participating artists have only 500mb to manipulate photos with - and even less! There are also participating artists who only have the use of very basic tools - like scissors, scanners, Paint and dated versions of Ulead Photo Express! These artists might not submit an entry that wins any of the rounds - but at least Crestock has given them the opportunity to try.
But it could be a bit stricter

@ slick182 I completely agree

@Lindy 3D tools, which some of the work here looks the product of, are not in the same league as Paint or Photo Express.

3D is a quite different discipline which admittedly produces some spectacular results, however it seems a bit odd for a stock PHOTOGRAPHY website running a Photoshop competition to be lauding their merits.

Congrats to the winner!
Absolutely awesome

It's unbelievable what some people can do with a computer. I just keep wondering. If so many talented people create all these masterpieces for a (with all due respect) silly computer, my guess is that most talent scouts have their head in the ground. I hope you people get noticed and find a way to do this for a living. You definitely deserve it. As far as I'm concerned it's a top 15 of number 1's.
3D Modelers don't use stock photos

3D Modelers make everything from scratch. This should be called the Maya Contest.

unfair competition
By Guest on Tuesday, 11 December 2007 5:16 AM
i saw this comment on digg by Zoshchenko but i thought it really made sense:

Someone who is an incredible artist who happens to use Photoshop is very different from someone who uses Photoshop to actually modify photos. Creating original artwork is a skill very different from the manipulation of photographs.

i think crestock should set more restrictions on the contest so that submissions will at least fall under the same league
This is very impressive work by all

This kind of work requires two or three days of full time stitching and polishing of the image.
